Time or money

What is more valuable, time or money? Some people I have spoken to would gladly give up a few years for a few thousand, but is money seriously more important than time? We can earn more money, take a second job for a while, overtime you could even sell unwanted stuff. Time though once used it cannot be replaced, cannot be earned and cannot be replenished, once it is used up you die. What do you say when the end draws near, the final breaths are being transmitted into the atmosphere? I was rich had loads of money, worked like a dog and got to enjoy it whilst I was old, now I lay here wishing I did more with my time? That birthday you missed and what a great party it was, the photos online looked epic, but you worked. That concert everyone went to, you decided staying on for some extra time. The conflict in life, between trying to enjoy what little time we have, and earning enough to survive. Missed opportunities due to the rising costs, and making sure you can eat, keeping that roof above your head. It is great we can save for the future and our retirement, but our bodies are almost used up, burnt out and probably stricken by disease and ailments. Plus, tomorrow is not guaranteed all it takes is a hit and run, heart attack or stroke, you could even get murdered! Then all that time you spent at a job you hated, around people you disliked, wasted gone before you could even get to enjoy that money. We should always make time for people we care about, make time for special occasions, because memories will last in the final moments, maybe even bring a smile to you, as your body readies for the end, no regrets and disappointments. Depending on what you believe, we only get one shot at this, some may say heaven and hell, others may say reincarnation, but even still we will never be that same person we are now, so how did you spend your time? Late home for that family meal again, the kids are growing so fast, you missed it all, first words, first steps you missed them take a cup final winning penalty in a football match. That time goes quick, five years is not actually that long, you can try again with the second or third child I suppose. It does seem our governments want to make sure prices stay high, keep us working long hours, guess the more we earn the more they can take, always said overtime and extra jobs should be tax free as long as you are working a full-time job, tax us on the forty-hour working week, but anything over should be ours and ours alone, as we are using our own time to make this money. But there lies greed I suppose, they waste money and make us waste our time helping them earn this money they waste. We as working humans should be able to work and enjoy our time, it should not come down to I live to work, it should be a case of I work to live. Hearing people say, "what is the point in living" and "there has to be more to life than this" it is disheartening. Tired bones and aching muscles, head is screaming at you every day, all you want to do is lie down and sleep, so you waste more of your downtime trying to recover. How many times have you used, "I will do it later" or "in a minute" does later actually come? how many minutes pass before you do it, or ever do it? Adds to that wasted time, procrastinate about simple chores then regret it later, want to achieve something in particular but, sit on your hands and not actually give it a go. Spend all day with worry and anxiety, then feel depression that you did not do more, it is a vicious cycle but working long days and no social life, it has drained you, body is running on empty and the light you once saw as a child extinguished, welcome to modern day slavery, work till you drop and screw your free time. Credit scores keep us in check, keep up to date with them bills never miss one, you will be declined for future help shall you need it, the fear of that makes sure we keep working, so them prices that rise, and the minimum wage remains the same, paying out more a month but earning less, we get pushed to do more hours otherwise end up in debt. Less and less time for yourself, but that in itself means less time for you to use to do that thing you love, or write that book, become an artist it could be anything, alas you are the working class, we are relied on, to keep our government rich and feed the lazy people.
