That one percent we all know one person who loves abusing a good situation, ruining it for everyone else

Ow wow where to start with these people, every work place has one maybe if you are really unlucky, two, three or even four. It is a debate of mine what are worse, the work suck up or the piss taker? We have all had a job at some point that has good benefits or a nice working environment, but then there is Martin (this is a made up name and is not a real person), the one that takes advantage of kindness and a good thing. You know Martin is phoning in sick every Monday due to a heavy Friday and Saturday, Needs a few for recovery, Knowing the company give full sick pay to staff as a benefit for working with them. Sixth Monday and now the boss has questioned this, but instead of disciplining or even sacking them, they take away sick pay. Now someone has generally been sick or had a little accident, and needs to see a doctor, well guess what thanks to Martin you have to use holiday or take it as unpaid leave. But Martin is not done abusing a good thing, he thinks because it is there he needs to use it, so that little five minuets the supervisor gave to its staff for a quick drink or smoke, Martin he does it all forty minuets later he is back smiling, pretending to do some work. But alas he has done this one too many times, and has been caught guess what, everyone who actually does not take the piss, well they suffer. Whilst Martin well he continues to abuse it, he is not scared of losing his job. But the people who actually enjoy working for that company, and enjoys the semi decent pay that it brings in their bank, well now they are all annoyed and start taking it out on the company. "You took our benefits, we hate this place", and the negativity starts to show. One piss taker has bought all staff to its knees, and instead of cutting the head off the problem, they choose to make everyone suffer. Change happens we have to evolve, it is a natural part of life, but to negatively evolve is plain wrong, you would choose not to fire someone who basically brings nothing to the table, and takes advantage of every good thing about a place, than protect your staff that actually respect and value the benefits. The thing is you can complain and report Martin, but they will never see it, too much paper work and way to many meetings, way too much work to just let the perpetrator suffer, means someone is having to watch them like a hawk, make sure he is not doing things he should not be doing, that is time consuming. It is much easier to just punish everyone, basically stopping it stops anyone ever abusing it again. That is a simple solution, but the impact it has on others hurts, because now they see it is, they are not as valued as Martin. Now this is probably only, one percent of workers. The one percent that are so selfish, ignorant and entitled that ruin it for everyone. So on one hand I can see why some bosses, are strict in their rules because Martin was not the first, they have had to deal with many Martins before that one. On the other hand, you would piss off the entire work force, just because you cannot be arsed to deal with that one person? Piss taking can be anything, these are just things I have witnessed, there are a lot more examples I could give, would possibly be here all night writing though. Remember always look out for a Martin, do not let them ruin a good work environment.
