Every work place has them, you'd like to think grown adults grow out of it after school. Alas we get the narcissist, the sociopath, the racists even the sexists, all of them hurt the same, and believe they are the only people in the world that matter. It may be just one person, but we do get the groups the leader and their little lapdogs, these people thrive on hurting and abusing. Maybe its because they have nothing better in their lives. They feel the need to abuse others, their frustrations however should be aimed at themselves, the world is not at fault for where they are. But and I say this from experience, it is not just colleagues that can be a bully, lets ask people in customer care, services or admin. Customers can be rude, abusive and just out right nasty. Do they see the implement of their behaviour to a shop workers mental health, probably not remember customers are always right and all that! What they fail to understand, is passed their own selfish and entitled behaviour we are humans, we have feelings and we can make mistakes. Them that try to get something for nothing, the ones that complain over the slightest of inconvenience. What they fail to see, is the worker on the receiving end of their pathetic little outburst is just trying to make a living, shops have regulations and rules that need to be followed, the employee is just enforcing it. But calling them horrible names and even getting physical, does not help anyone just adds more strain to that persons mental health. How long before that person quits and with an already a strain on workers, short staff issues will just make it worse for you to get your potatoes! The employees have no control over stock, and when it arrives so scream and shout as much as you want, it really will not change the fact there are none left. Be kind be patient, manners cost nothing. Yes I understand there are plenty of rude employees, but ask yourself why are they like that? maybe it is one too many rude people, threating behaviour and abusive language towards them, do they really need to be putting up with the outburst of a fully grown immature person, and for minimum wage? Students who are just trying to make their wage to feed themselves, whilst getting through college probably working all day and studying all night? Or the old who are tired of retirement and fancied doing a little part time work? The customers always right should changed, it is outdated it should be workers mental health should be looked after. Need more security and fines for abusive customers, protect our work force. Nobody deserves to be mistreated at their place of work, at least they get out of bed and work for a living! It is not just shops that suffer, what about our hospitals, I have seen nurses and health care staff, even cleaners abused by relatives and patients. They do an amazing job looking after 30 maybe 40 people at the same time, even though they are dangerously understaffed, underpaid and underappreciated. But they still try, they still go to work to look after your loved ones, disregarding their own needs, sometimes missing breaks holding their urine in for hours and hours, barely taking a sip of water. For what to be abused not just nasty every day words, but vile racists words! I personally believe some humans where dragged up, inconsiderate, ignorant and just plain blind. Every job has people that desire their help, you are not the only one some peoples issues maybe worse and need instant attention. The world does not revolve around one person, their are plenty of people in the same boat, but are pleasant and patient. We as a society need to stop this hateful behaviour towards our workers, we need to appreciate the ones that work and pay taxes, it is how this world moves forward!
